By installing you agree to the Early Preview license agreement. The installer shows it too.
You need
- Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit
- A graphics card that supports Direct3D 11 or newer
- About 100 MB of disk space, plus room for your projects
- Characters as FBX: a skinned mesh with its skeleton, and animations in the same or separate FBX files
After you install
- Start LODinize from the Start menu. The title bar shows how many preview days are left.
- Getting started takes you to your first LODs in a few minutes.
- No animated character to try it on? The free Animated People at renderpeople.com/free-3d-people (FBX format) are the characters used in the docs.
- Tell us what you think: what worked, what got in the way, what you missed. Send feedback.
- To uninstall: Windows Settings, Apps, LODinize, Uninstall. Your projects and exports stay where you saved them.
Windows will ask you to confirm
This preview is not code-signed yet, so Windows cannot show a publisher name and treats it as unrecognised. A signed build will replace it at this address. Until then, expect these steps:
- Your browser may say the file is not commonly downloaded. Choose Keep (Edge: open the ... menu next to the download first).
- Windows SmartScreen says "Windows protected your PC". Click More info, check that the app name is the file above, then Run anyway.
- Windows asks whether to allow changes, with "Unknown publisher". Click Yes. The installer needs this to install into Program Files and add the Microsoft Visual C++ runtime.
Check the file (optional)
The SHA-256 checksum shows that your copy is exactly the file published here, which matters if you got it from someone else.
